Design doesn’t have to be intimidating-and it doesn’t have to follow a set of rules. follow a set of rules. The Design Lab invites visitors inside the creative process through an immersive, multi-sensory experience that reveals how design truly works.
By engaging the senses-touch, sight, scent, and spatial awareness-the Lab explores how even the smallest details influence the spaces we create.
Through hands-on exploration, attendees will discover how color, materials, fabric, pattern, texture, and scent work together to shape mood, memory, and meaning. Led by an innovative group of local designers, thinkers, and creatives, the Design Lab breaks the design process into its core elements-showing how sustainability, sensory awareness, and creativity intersect to create spaces that support well-being and spark inspiration.
You don’t need to be a designer to stop in. In fact, the most important perspective is your own. This is an invitation to slow down, engage your senses, rethink what design can be, and rediscover the joy of creating.
Throughout the weekend, visitors will discover how ladite became the Rhode Island Home Show Color of the Year through a series of color explorations woven into each Design Lab activation, designed and lead by artist Valerie Ottaviano.
